My Daughter Madison at her Bridal Shower

On May 3rd we celebrated Madison's upcoming wedding with a bridal shower. Hosted by my step-mom, Diane Seitz Hall, and my step-sister, Lori Briody. Because Madison used to have a serious affinity for all things British, including tea, the theme was a lovely tea party. There were beautiful tea cups on display and an elaborate display of tasty sweets. The day was so beautiful that we could enjoy sitting on the patio at my dad's and step-mom's home. Below is Madison and our dear friend, Sarah Lee, holding up a gift from me. Her wedding reception is set on the groom's mother's farm with a rustic country theme; I thought she could use the banner for the wedding and for her home. We have a new PATIO! Before After In the first picture you can see my backyard as I used to see it: large and in need of help. Keep in mind that the dirt directly in front of the stoop is due to my husband planning out the patio, but on a normal day that area was with little grass, muddy, and an eye sore. In the next picture you can see part of the patio in its completion. AFTER my husband, Allen, our son, J.E.B., and our soon-to-be son-in-law, Caleb, worked their butts off clearing out the dirt and tamping the soil, smoothing out the sand to prepare for the pavers, and pounding the pavers in place until completion. Elliette wanted to help too. Daisy wanted in on the fun too, which wasn't fun for Allen. I will update my post later, once I have added some decorative touches, and washed off the mud that Daisy has rubbed onto our back door. My daughter, Elliette, before the Seussical Musical. Mr. Brown starts off the show . Last night we were treated to a great Seussical Musical by the 2nd graders at my daughter's school. The kids were ready to sing, dance, and recite their lines all to celebrate the birthday of Dr. Seuss. Some great Dr. Seuss quotes which will never grow old: "A person's a person no matter how small." "We are all a little weird, and life's a little weird." "Why fit in when you were born to stand out!" And there are sooooo many more. Because Dr. Seuss is one of the wisest and brightest of men ever to live. Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss!
